Vidhu Vinod Chopra was one of the first indie filmmakers before owning the most successful production house in India. He really got noticed with ” Parinda” starring Anil Kapoor, Madhuri Dixit, and Jackie Shroff. He made very few films and ventured into Hollywood too. His indies – Saza-e Maut and Khamosh got rave reviews and was termed as one of the most promising filmmakers in the eighties.
He also made a short film – Murder at Monkey Hill during his film institute days. Very few know he was nominated for the Oscars in the Documentary-short section for his short- An Encounter with Faces.
It is still watched by the film aspirants and has a cult following. Vidhu Vinod Chopra didn’t make many films as we would have wanted to. He produced a lot of movies though. The most successful being – 3 Idiots and the Munnabhai Series.
