Kahani Director, Sujoy Ghosh has taken a penchant for making short films. After his Popular “Ahalya“, he has launched his new short- Anukul. Anukul is a short story written by Satyajit Ray four decades ago about the conflict between the man and machine.
Sujoy, an ardent fan of the great filmmaker, has grown up watching Ray’s films. Satyajit Ray was a prolific writer too with tons of children, horror and sci-fi stories. Anukul delves in the one such sci-fi genre in a dystopian world where humans hire robots as their personal and domestic help. These are realistic looking bots with artificial intelligence. The conflict begins when they start eating into human jobs.
Parambrata Chatterjee, Saurabh Shukla, Ekavali Khanna, Kachan Mulick, Barun Chanda and Kharaj Mukherjee are the players of Anukul. Parambrata plays Anukul and Saurabh Shukla plays Nikunj Chaturvedi, a Hindi teacher who buys Anukul as hin personal Helper.
The future is brilliantly created by Ghosh and after watching Anukul, you wonder what a great writer, Satyajit Ray was, as the story is so relevant today. It doesn’t seem stale though it was penned in 1976.

Amitabh Bachchan was one of the first to react to Anukul and he praised Sujoy Ghosh for his efforts to match the master.
